Article L. 2336-5:
Sans préjudice des dispositions de l'article L. 2336-4, le préfet peut, pour des raisons d'ordre public ou de sécurité des personnes, ordonner à tout détenteur d'une arme soumise au régime de l'autorisation ou de la déclaration de s'en dessaisir.
Le dessaisissement consiste soit à vendre l'arme à une personne mentionnée à l'article L. 2332-1 ou à un tiers remplissant les conditions légales d'acquisition et de détention, soit à la neutraliser, soit à la remettre à l'Etat. Un décret en Conseil d'Etat détermine les modalités du dessaisissement…
Il est interdit aux personnes ayant fait l'objet de la procédure prévue au présent article d'acquérir ou de détenir des armes soumises au régime de l'autorisation ou de la déclaration.
Le préfet peut cependant décider de limiter cette interdiction à certaines catégories ou à certains types d'armes.
Cette interdiction est levée par le préfet s'il apparaît que l'acquisition ou la détention d'armes par la personne concernée n'est plus de nature à porter atteinte à l'ordre public ou à la sécurité des personnes…

Article L. 2336-5:
Subject to provisions of Article L. 2336-4, the Prefect may order any person holding a firearm, which is subject to regulations on authorisation or notification, to dispose of it for reasons of public order or safety.
The disposal either consists of selling the firearm to an individual mentioned in Article L. 2332-1, or to a third person complying with legal conditions on purchase and possession, or to neutralise it, or to surrender it to the State. A Decree in State Council sets the disposal conditions…
Persons who have been subject to the proceedings of this Article are prohibited from purchasing or possessing firearms subject to regulations on authorisation or notification.
However, the Prefect may decide to limit this prohibition to certain categories or certain types of firearms.
This prohibition can be waived by the Prefect if it appears that purchase or possession by the person concerned does not represent a serious risk for public order or safety…
