Autorisation d'importation et d'exportation

7.1 - Les importations d'ALPC destinées aux Forces de Défense Nationale et de Sécurité font l'objet d'une procédure régulière à la disposition du Gouvernement.

Le Décret N°61/39/PR/MI/AM du 07 Février 1961 fixant le régime des armes en République du Bénin dispose à son article 20 que "tout particulier désirant faire parvenir une arme perfectionnée et ses munitions de l'extérieur doit être détenteur d'une autorisation d'importation" dûment signée par le Ministre de l'Intérieur.

Un arrêté du Ministre de l'Intérieur fixe chaque année le contingent d'armes perfectionnées dont l'importation peut être autorisée dans chaque Commune.

7.2 - Le Bénin ne fabriquant pas d'armes perfectionnées à échelle industrielle, n'en exporte pas, ni ne sert de transit international pour le transfert d'ALPC.

Authorisation to Import and Export

7.1 - Imports of SALW destined for National Defence and Security Forces are subject to a regular Government procedure.

The Decree 61/39/PR/MI/AM of 7 February 1961 on the regime of weapons in the Republic of Benin provides, in Article 20, that 'any individual desiring to acquire a sophisticated firearm and its ammunition from abroad must hold an autorisation to import', duly signed by the Minister of the Interior.

A bylaw of the Minister of the interior sets the annual quota of sophisticated firearms and their ammunition that can be authorised to be imported in each town.

7.2 - Benin does not manufacture sophisticated firearms at the industrial level, does not export them, nor does it serve as an international transit destination for the transfer of SALW.
