Artigo 44.º Obrigações especiais dos armeiros na venda ao público

1. A venda ao público de armas de fogo e suas munições só pode ser efectuada por pessoas devidamente habilitadas
para o efeito, com domínio da língua portuguesa ou da língua cabo-verdiana.

2. Cabe aos armeiros ou aos seus trabalhadores verificar a identidade do comprador, a existência das licenças ou autorizações habilitantes, confi rmar e explicar as características e efeitos da arma e munições vendidas, bem como as regras de segurança aplicáveis.

3. O armeiro e os seus trabalhadores devem recusar a venda de arma ou munições sempre que o comprador apresente sinais notórios de embriaguez, perturbação psíquica, consumo de estupefacientes ou ingestão de qualquer substância que lhe afecte o comportamento.

4. É vedado aos armeiros a exposição de armas, nos termos a regulamentar.

Article 44: Special obligations of gunsmiths regarding sales to the public

1. The sale to the public of firearms and their ammunition may only be carried out by persons duly empowered
with command of the Portuguese or Cape Verdean language.

2. It is the responsibility of the gunsmiths or their employees to verify the identity of the buyer, the existence of the enabling licences or authorisations, to confirm and explain the characteristics and effects of the firearm and ammunition being sold, as well as the applicable safety rules.

3. The gunsmith and his employees must refuse to sell a firearm or ammunition whenever the buyer shows clear signs of intoxication, mental disturbance, consumption of narcotics or ingestion of any substance that affects his behaviour.

4. Gunsmiths are prohibited from exhibiting weapons under terms to be regulated.
