Le port des armes catégories A,1 B,2 ainsi que des armes de la catégorie D3 figurant sur une liste fixée par un décret en Conseil d'Etat ou d'éléments essentiels des armes des catégories A et B ou de munitions correspondantes est interdit ainsi que leur transport sans motif légitime.

Les fonctionnaires et agents des administrations publiques exposés par leurs fonctions à des risques d'agression, ainsi que les personnels auxquels est confiée une mission de gardiennage et qui ont été préalablement agréés à cet effet par le représentant de l'Etat dans le département, ou, à Paris, par le préfet de police, peuvent être autorisés à s'armer pendant l'exercice de leurs fonctions, dans les conditions définies par décret en Conseil d'Etat.

Article L. 315-1

Carrying firearms of categories A,1 B,2 as well as firearms of category D3 listed by Decree in State Council, or essential components of firearms of categories A and B or corresponding ammunition, is forbidden, as well as their transport without genuine reason.

Officials and agents of public administrations exposed, due to their duties, to risks of attack, as well as personnel who have been given a surveillance mission and who have prior authorisation to that effect by the State representative of the department, or, in Paris, by the Prefect of Police, may be authorised to be armed while exercising their functions, under conditions set by Decree in State Council.
