L'acquisition et la détention des armes de catégorie D1 sont libres.

Un décret en Conseil d'Etat peut toutefois soumettre l'acquisition de certaines d'entre elles à des obligations particulières de nature à garantir leur traçabilité, compte tenu de leurs caractéristiques techniques, de leur valeur patrimoniale ou de leur utilisation dans le cadre de la pratique d'une activité sportive ou de loisirs.

Article L. 312-4-2

The acquisition and possession of firearms of category D1 are free.

A Decree in State Council may however submit the acquisition of certain of them [firearms of category D] to specific conditions in order to ensure their tracing, in view of the technical characteristics, or of their value, or of their use during sports or leisure activities.
