Marcaje y Sanciones

Marking and Penalties

The Minister emphasised the importance of making the public aware that, under commitments taken by the country to combat illicit firearms trafficking and their diversion, it is required, for the issuance of the first firearm licence and its renewal, that all firearms be marked, at no cost to the user. Furthermore and continuously, armouries are warned that ammunition traded or under their custody must be properly marked and that, when being made operational, armouries that do not have marked ammunition, as required by law, may be subject to the revocation of their licences for the trade of firearms, ammunition, among others. In the same vein, the offending establishment may be closed and placed under presumption of illegal trafficking, by confiscating of the ammunition for subsequent seizure.
