Artículo 1. Modificar el contenido del Decreto No.30-2000 contentivo de la Ley de control de armas de fuego, municiones, explosivos y otros similares, de fecha 11 de abril del año 2000, mediante reforma de sus Artículos 27 y 34, y la adición de los artículos 27-A, 27-B y 27-C, los cuales se leerán de la forma siguiente:

Artículo 27 C. Sanciones sobre la Portación Ilegal de Armas

El incumplimiento de las disposiciones sobre portación de armas y materiales señaladas en los Artículos 27A y 27B precedentes, conllevan el decomiso del arma o las armas, los materiales, así como la suspensión del permiso de portación y pago de las multas contempladas en esta Ley, la Ley de Policía y Convivencia Social, sin perjuicio de otras acciones civiles y penales que procedan.

Las ventas o traspasos de armas deberán registrarse dentro del plazo inmediato de diez (10) días máximo. Los dueños de armas de fuego, que hubiesen sido robadas o extraviadas deberán notificar este hecho a la Policía Nacional dentro de un plazo inmediato de veinticuatro (24) horas. El incumplimiento de estas disposiciones de registro y notificación, expone a los infractores a las responsabilidades administrativas, civiles y penales que establece la ley.

La Policía Nacional y las Municipalidades publicarán por medio de folletos, avisos, anuncios de radio y por otros medios informáticos, los requisitos legales, sanciones, advertencias técnicas y precauciones personales sobre el uso apropiado de las armas de fuego.

Decree No. 69-2007, Modifying the Act on the Control of Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives and Other Related Materials

Article 1. Modifying the Decree No. 30-2000 of the Act on the Control of Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives and Other Related Materials, April 11, 2000, by amending Articles 27 and 34, and adding Articles 27-A, 27-B and 27-C, which will now be read in the following way:

Article 27C. Penalties for Unlawfully Carrying Firearms

Failure to comply with the provisions on the carrying of firearms and materials referred to in Articles 27A and 27B, will lead to the seizure of the firearms, materials, and the suspension of the permit to carry firearms, as well as fines referred to in this Act, the Police and Social Coexistence Act, without prejudice to other civil and criminal actions that proceed.

The sale or transfer of firearms must be registered within a maximum period of ten (10) days. The owners of firearms, which had been lost or stolen, must notify the National Police of the incident within twenty-four (24) hours. Failure to comply with these provisions exposes offenders to administrative, civil and criminal liabilities under the law.

The National Police and municipalities will issue legal requirements, sanctions, technical warnings and personal precautions about the proper use of firearms through pamphlets, advertisements, radio announcements and other social media or digital formats.
