Restrictions on Sale of Ammunition

17. (1) Ammunition shall not be sold by retail to any person who does not at the time of sale produce a licence to keep firearms or fails to give reasonable proof that he is a person entitled to keep, carry or use a firearm without a licence by virtue of section 30.

(2) Every person who sells any ammunition by retail shall before delivery thereof make or cause to be made an entry in a book to be kept for the purpose specifying the nature and quantity of the ammunition sold, the date of such sale, the name and address of the purchaser, the office from which the licence produced by the purchaser was issued and the number and date of the licence (or the circumstances exempting the purchaser from having such a licence); and such book shall be produced for inspection on the request of any revenue or police officer.

(3) Any person who contravenes any of the foregoing provisions of this section, or who on the sale or purchase of any ammunition knowingly makes or causes to be made any false entry or statement as to any matter concerning which he is required by this section to make any entry or statement, shall be guilty of an offence.
