Guns in Vehicles in New Mexico
In New Mexico, a person may possess an unloaded firearm in a motor vehicle.
New Mexico prohibits any person from boarding or attempting to board a bus while in possession of a readily accessible firearm, unless prior approval has been granted by the bus company. A person may, however, transport a firearm on a bus in accordance with regulations established by the bus company if the firearm is in a compartment not accessible to passengers while the bus is moving. "Bus" is defined as "any passenger bus, coach or other motor vehicle having a seating capacity of not less than fifteen passengers operated by a bus transportation company when used for the purpose of carrying passengers or cargo for hire."…
