Private Sales in North Dakota
Private firearms transfers (i.e., transfers by non-firearms dealers) are not subject to a background check requirement in North Dakota, although federal and state purchaser prohibitions still apply.
North Dakota prohibits supplying a firearm or ammunition to a person the transferor knows or has reasonable cause to believe is prohibited from possessing them under state law. North Dakota prohibits any person from transferring a handgun to any such a person.
