Exportación, importación, tránsito y uso final
Las operaciones de importación deberán ser previamente autorizadas por la Secretaría de Estado de Interior y Policía, según lo establece el Artículo 17 de la Ley 36 (sobre Comercio, Porte y Tenencia de Armas de Fuego, 1965). La Dirección Nacional de Aduanas no dará trámite a ninguna operación de importación, sin la previa presentación de los permisos de autorización expedidos por el Ministerio de Interior.
De conformidad con la ley 36 (sobre Comercio, Porte y Tenencia de Armas de Fuego, 1965), la Dirección de Control de Armas tiene por misión tomar a su cargo el control y registro de las importaciones, comercialización, y posesión de las armas de fuego u otras que se determinen, así como sus municiones, acorde a la Ley y Reglamentaciones vigentes.
La Secretaría de Estado de Interior y Policía emite los permisos de importación a solicitud del interesado, por cada operación se expide el certificado de destino final, dirigido al Organismo competente del país exportador a través de
la Secretaria de Estado de Exteriores.
En la República Dominicana no se registran antecedentes de tránsito, re-exportación o transferencia de armas pequeñas y ligeras; no obstante este procedimiento está reglamentado.
La Secretaría de Estado de Interior y Policía comunica a los organismos de seguridad (Secretaría de Estado de Las Fuerzas Armadas, DNI, P.N., DNCD) todos los permisos de importación concedidos a las compañías comercializadoras de armas de fuego y municiones, donde indique la procedencia y detalles de la misma.

Export, Import, Transit and End-use
Import operations must be authorised by the Ministry of the Interior and Police, as stated in Article 17 of Law 36 (on trade, carrying and possession of Firearms, 1965). The Customs Office will not process any import operation without prior submission of authorisation permits issued by the Ministry of the Interior.
In accordance with law 36 (on trade, carrying and possession of Firearms, 1965), the Arms Control Directorate's mission is to take over the monitoring and recording of imports, sale and possession of firearms or other weapons to be
determined, and their ammunition, according to the law and regulations.
The Ministry of the Interior and Police issued import permits to request, for each transaction is issued a certificate of final destination, addressed to the Agency in the exporting country through the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
In the Dominican Republic there is no record of transit, re-export or transfer of small arms and light weapons, however this process is regulated.
The Ministry of the Interior and Police communicates with the security agencies (Ministry of Armed Forces, DNI, P.N., DNCD) about all the import permits granted to companies trading with firearms and ammunition, which indicate the origin and details of it.
