Federal Law No. 73-FZ of July 21, 2004 amended the first part of Article 222 of the present Code
1. Illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation, or bearing of firearms, its basic parts, ammunition, (except for civil smooth-bore ones, their basic parts and ammunition for them), explosives, or explosive devices -
shall be punishable by restraint of liberty for a term of up to three years, or by an arrest for a term of up to six months, or by deprivation of liberty for a term of up to four years, with or without a fine in the amount of up to 80 thousand roubles, or in the amount of the wage or salary, or any other income of the convicted person for a period of up to three months.
