Art. 7
Require the maintenance of records of markings for not less than ten years of firearms, ammunition and components that are necessary to trace illicitly manufactured or trafficked arms.

Art. 9
Requires ensuring comprehensive and accurate records are kept for as long as possible on the manufacture, holding and transfer of small arms and light weapons. Records should be well maintained and organised to facilitate accurate and prompt information retrieval.

Requires provision to ensure responsibility for weapons held and issued by the state and effective measures for tracing such weapons.

Requires all bodies authorised to hold small arms to ensure standards and procedures are established regarding: inventory management; and accounting control; and accounting of small arms held or transported by operational units or authorized personnel.
