Tracing performed by the services of the Integrated Police Structured at 2 Levels

In 2010, the 'ARMES' service of the Federal Judicial Police, Crime Branch against Property dealt with requests concerning 610 firearms (104 weapons produced in Belgium and 506 weapons not produced in Belgium). For the tracing of these weapons, the 'ARMES' service uses the Central Register of Weapons (National) and the General National Database of the Police and resorts to manual checks in the register of firearms dealers, weapons manufacturers and collectors.

Therefore, for example, if the weapon seems to have been produced in Belgium by FN Herstal/Browning, the police will contact this manufacturer who keeps the records, making inventory of all weapons that were produced.
