Marking and Tracing of SALW

In terms of marking, The Police and The Defence Forces have a standard way of marking their arms. However there is need to upgrade this system of marking to match the SADC marking standards.

Further-more there is no specific offence of removal of marks or falsification or altering of marks on a firearm. Reviewing of firearms records is not clearly stipulated under any regulation.

However the Firearms Policy being developed takes care for most of the above issues.
