Implementation of the United Nations Programme of Action on Small Arms

Also in the context of implementation of the Programme of Action, and with technical and financial support from the Kingdom of Belgium, the National Commission has successfully conducted an initial arms collection and destruction campaign, which resulted in the burning of approximately 800 weapons. It is now conducting a new project, which has resulted in the collection of 819 military weapons and the declaration of 4,038 legal weapons for official registration. The military weapons will be burned and the owners of the declared weapons will file requests for registration in order to obtain permits to carry arms.
