Artículo 59. Requisitos

Para comprar un arma de fuego de uso civil, deportiva o de uso y manejo individual, el interesado deberá presentar a la entidad autorizada para venderla, fotocopia legalizada de su documento de identificación personal, certificación original de la partida de nacimiento, certificación de carencia de antecedentes penales y policíacos, boleto de ornato, así como constancia de empleo o certificación de ingresos.

El vendedor remitirá esta documentación y el arma a la DIGECAM, quien después de comprobar que los documentos están en orden y no existe ningún impedimento de los consignados en ésta y otras leyes que prohíban la operación de compraventa, en un término no mayor de cinco (5) días hábiles remitirá al vendedor la autorización para entregar el arma al comprador y la tarjeta de tenencia de la misma.

Article 59. Requirements

In order to buy a civilian, sport or individual firearm, the buyer must give the following documents to the authorized dealer: certified copy of the personal ID, certified copy of the birth certificate, certification of no criminal or police records, Maintenance and Landscaping Tax Receipt, employment or income certificate.

The seller will send these documents and the firearm to the Office for Arms and Ammunition Control which will verify that the requirements have been fulfilled and that there is not any legal impediment for the buying and selling operation. Within a period not exceeding five working days, the Office for Arms and Ammunition Control must send to the dealer the possession licence and the authorisation to give the firearm to the buyer.
