Several research papers worldwide conclude that having a weapon in the house results in a higher incidence of suicides with firearms. The table above shows that suicides are mainly done with legal weapons and in particular with handguns. There is a positive trend (decreasing) noted in 2004 compared to the previous years, although the economic situation of the country remains at about the same level.
