El Estado de Guatemala ha implementado acciones que pretenden erradicar el comercio ilícito de armas, tales como:
a) Estricto control por medio de Ia extensión de tarjetas de tenencia y licencias de portación de armas de fuego;
b) Exigencia del marcaje de las armas por el fabricante, en cuyo caso contrario se aplica el marcaje en territorio nacional mediante el troquelado;
c) No se exportan armas pequeñas y ligeras desde el territorio guatemalteco;
d) Verificación por la autoridad competente del marcaje en actividades de compra-venta entre particulares;
e) Inspecciones sorpresivas y aleatorias a empresas de compra-venta de armas y armerías.

Guatemala has implemented the following measures to eradicate the illicit trade in firearms:
(a) Strict controls through the issue of certificates of ownership and licences to carry firearms;
(b) Imported arms must be marked by the manufacturer; otherwise, the arm is marked once it is in Guatemala by means of stamping;
(c) Firearms are not exported from Guatemala;
(d) Verification by the authority of the marking procedures used by private dealers;
(e) Unannounced and random inspections of private gun shops and armouries.
