Preventing, Combating and Eradicating the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in all Its Aspects - At the National Level
In accordance with the provisions of articles 4, 10-12, 22 and 24 of the Act on official and civilian weapons of 30 December 1997, control over the movement of official and civilian weapons in the Republic of Azerbaijan is exercised by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Agency for Standardization, Metrology and Patents.
The authority exercising control over the movement of civilian weapons is empowered to:
1. Conduct inspections of weapons and sites used for their manufacture, sale, storage and destruction;
2. Request from legal entities and individuals relevant documentation, including information in writing or in oral forms the purposes of exercising its control functions;
3. Upon discovery of violations, issue binding instructions to civilian and officials in order to eliminate such violations;
4. Implement other measures provided by law.
