Zambia has been tirelessly working to implement the UNPoA subregionally through the Southern African Community (SADC) Protocol on Firearms, Ammunitions and related Materials and the Secretariat of the Southern African Regional Police Chief's Coordinating Organisation (SARPCCO) which serves as the SADC focal point on the SADC Firearms Protocol. Zambia participated in the 3rd Meeting of Regional Coordinating Committee (RCC) on Small Arms and Light Weapons held in Swakopmund in Namibia.

Zambia also hosted the 4th RCC meeting in Lusaka, Zambia is October 2009 on the back of a SADC workshop on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS) of the SADC Protocol on the Control of Firearms, Ammunition and Related Materials from 26-30
October 2009.

Zambia has also been collaborating with the Nairobi-based Regional Centre for Small Arms and Light Weapons (RECSA) as provided for under the UNPoA section on collaboration. To this end, Zambia signed a Memorandum of Understanding with RECSA at a handover ceremony of a firearm PIN-Marking Machine.
