As a general rule, specially dangerous firearms forbidden

Under the new Firearms Act, the following firearms are designated as specially dangerous firearms: a grenade launcher, a mortar, a breech-loading cannon and a firearm corresponding to that in structure and purpose of use, a missile or rocket-launcher system, an automatic firearm and a firearm disguised as another object than a firearm. The Act also defines specially dangerous cartridges and projectiles.

As a general rule, acquisition of specially dangerous firearms and firearm components is prohibited. The State Provincial Office can make an exception and grant an acquisition permit for keeping a firearm in a collection. The acquisition and possession permits do not entitle the person to acquire specially dangerous cartridges and projectiles, but a separate ammunition permit must be applied for them. This permit may be obtained if special cause exists. As a general rule, it is not permitted to shoot with an automatic firearm belonging to a collection.
