Section 28. Procedures for Acquisition, Registration, Recording, Realisation, Possession, Transportation, Conveyance or Carrying of Weapons, Munitions Thereof and Special Means
(1) The Cabinet shall determine the procedures by which natural persons and legal persons shall acquire, register, record, realise, possess, transport, conveyance or carry firearms and munitions thereof, as well as high-energy pneumatic weapons and munitions thereof, acquire, possess, carry and realise gas pistols (revolvers) for the purpose of self-defence, hunting, sports or for the performance of work or service duties, as well as acquire and possess weapons for collections.
(2) The procedures for possession, carrying and application of weapons and special means owned (possessed) by institutions of the Ministry of the Interior, the State security institutions, the National Armed Forces, Security Department of the Bank of Latvia, the Office of the Prosecutor, the State Revenue Service, Prison Administration, the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau and local government police shall be determined by the regulatory enactments regulating the activity of such authorities, but the procedures by which the referred to authorities shall acquire and realise weapons and special means shall be determined by the Cabinet.
