Disposal of Seized and Confiscated Weapons
In the course of law enforcement activities - and operations against terrorists, Government authorities regularly seize/ confiscate weapons belonging to both "prohibited" and "non-prohibited" bore categories.
Detailed instructions have been issued by the Government of India for disposal of such arms and ammunition. The main aim of the Government is to ensure that these weapons do not find their way back into the illicit trade channels or fall into the hands of unscrupulous elements.
