In 2016, the number of active, reserve and surplus firearms held by state agencies who provided data for this survey was 80,604, an increase of 2% from the 79,051 firearms held in 2012. In 2016, the total number of active firearms held by BiH state agencies (10) was 39,343, in addition to a further 1,663 firearms in reserve. Surplus firearms in state possession amounted to just under 40,000.
