Between 2012 and 2016, civilians voluntarily surrendered a total of 1,032 small arms.
The annual number of small arms surrendered peaked at 274 in 2014, but fell to 190 by 2016.
A total of 7,695 light weapons were voluntarily surrendered, with 534 handed over in 2012, which grew to 2,971 by 2016, an increase of 456%. This increase no doubt reflected the voluntary surrender campaign organized in BiH in September 2013, entitled "Choose Life without Weapons", during which citizens were encouraged to hand in illegal firearms.
A total of 2,712 firearms were also legalized between 2012 and 2016.
