Art. 28 Request for a licence to trade in arms (art. 17 Law on Arms)

1 Whoever wishes to obtain a licence to trade in arms must fill in the form designed for this purpose and forward it to the competent Cantonal authority with the following documents:
a. an extract from Swiss criminal records drawn up no more than three months before the request is filed;
b. a copy of a currently valid passport or identity card;
c. an extract from the trade register;
d. a certificate attesting to success in the examination for the licence to trade in arms;
e. the plans and details of the commercial premises.

2 The authority examines whether the conditions for issuing the licence are fulfilled.

3 The practical examination is not necessary to obtain the licence if the person:
a. does not trade in firearms;
b. is the holder of a federal gunsmith certificate.

4 No licence is necessary for participating in a public arms exchange in Switzerland if the interested party holds a valid foreign licence to trade in arms and he provides a certified true copy of it for the competent Cantonal authority.
