In Sweden, the majority of seized firearms do not have a legal history in the country. This suggests that local or national non-regularisation is not an essential source of illicit possession in the country. Other methods, such as smuggling, are far more important in the country's illegal firearms scene.

Among the weapons seized in the country's criminal milieu, Balkan legacy weapons stand out.
