In Santiago, on 19 October 2018, in accordance with the provisions of Article 23 of Law 17.798 on "Arms Control", which establishes that the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Courts of Justice shall keep in deposit both in the War Arsenals and in the Central Arms Depository, as appropriate, the objects and instruments of crimes subject to control, until the end of the respective procedure.

This situation shall also occur with the arms and other elements controlled and retained in customs due to irregularities in their importation or internment, and those arms and elements with respect to which their retention or seizure is ordered for any reason.

19,749 handguns and long arms, which have been previously rendered inoperable, are hereby destroyed. Of these, 4,248 were confiscated, 5,371 were voluntarily surrendered and 9,867 correspond to material that lost its useful life in Carabineros de Chile and 263 weapons, parts and pieces surrendered by FAMAE, all of which are duly identified in this document and destroyed by total melting in the premises of the AZA company :
