Estrategia para abatir el tráfico de armas (Objetivo 8, inciso I de la ENSP).
Las Instituciones de Gobierno no han contado con controles eficientes ni inventarios de confiscaciones de armas; además existe un alto índice de corrupción en los tres órdenes de Gobierno en relación con este tema. Se calcula que un 3% de los mexicanos tienen un arma y en nuestro país se utilizan armas de fuego en alrededor de un 70% de los homicidios.
Se calcula que alrededor de 200,000 armas de fuego entran ilegalmente a México cada año. Se ha carecido de controles aduaneros eficientes. No se cuenta con rastreo de armas ni protocolos periciales eficientes y universales. Se requiere combatir mediante una estrategia interinstitucional la entrada ilegal de armas de fuego en nuestro país y establecer mayores controles y seguimiento a las licencias colectivas de armas de fuego.
Se pondrán en marcha mecanismos para mejorar el control y registro de armas aseguradas y se reactivarán los grupos interinstitucionales integrados por el Sistema de Administración Tributaria, Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional, Secretaría de Marina, Fiscalía General de la República, Secretaría de Seguridad y Protección Ciudadana y el Secretariado Ejecutivo del Sistema Nacional de Seguridad Pública para supervisar el control y registro de armas.
Periódicamente se revisarán los resultados de estas acciones.

Strategy to reduce arms trafficking (Objective 8, paragraph I of the ENSP).
Government institutions have not had efficient controls or inventories of arms confiscations; in addition, there is a high level of corruption in the three levels of government in relation to this issue. It is estimated that 3% of Mexicans own a gun, and firearms are used in around 70% of homicides in our country.
It is estimated that around 200,000 firearms enter Mexico illegally each year. Efficient customs controls have been lacking. There is a lack of weapons tracing and efficient and universal forensic protocols. An inter-institutional strategy is needed to combat the illegal entry of firearms into our country and to establish greater controls and monitoring of collective firearms licences.
Mechanisms will be put in place to improve the control and registration of seized weapons and the inter-institutional groups made up of the Tax Administration System, the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of the Navy, the Attorney General's Office, the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection and the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System will be reactivated to supervise the control and registration of weapons.
The results of these actions will be reviewed periodically.
