Other types of illicit weapons circulating in the region include craft-produced firearms and alarm or blank-firing weapons that are converted to fire live ammunition. Local gunsmiths produce small arms in most West African countries, including Côte d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Guinea, Mali, Niger, and Nigeria.
