Myanmar has also played a major role as a supplier in the region, especially as a source of weapons for the LTTE [Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam] and certain rebel groups in Northeast India.

Though one of the world's most economically underdeveloped countries, Myanmar nevertheless has its own domestic small arms industry and has also received significant quantities of weapons from China and Singapore.
