[B]ecause of the bilateral provisions described above, the law of Monaco does not contain a definition of weapons of war, such weapons are not prohibited, since some of them are part of the equipment of officers of the Police Force, or are authorized for use in sport shooting, with a permit granted by the Minister of State in accordance with the requirements laid down by the Monegasque law on defensive firearms (see the section following on weapons in "other categories").
In the absence of such a permit, penalties similar to those under French law, including confiscation of seized equipment, deactivation of the weapon at the offender's expense or sale at auction, are imposed by the judicial or administrative authorities of Monaco under the same legal conditions as those established for weapons in other categories.
