Articulo 64. Requisitos generales

El importador deberá, a su costo, remitir todas las armas de fuego importadas a la DIASP, con el objeto de que se realicen las pruebas de balística y se expidan los certificados de tenencia a nombre del importador.

Toda solicitud para importar armas de fuego, sus accesorios, municiones y cartuchos, materiales relacionados y artículos defensivos no letales deberá ser acompañada del catálogo de los artículos cuya importación se solicita.

Siempre que sea posible, toda arma nueva que ingrese al país deberá venir marcada de fábrica con las letras PTY, seguidas del número de serie. En caso de no ser posible, deberá acompañarse de una certificación expedida por el fabricante, explicando las razones por las cuales no es posible cumplir con este requisito. La práctica que se utilice para marcar las armas será establecida en el reglamento de esta Ley.

Article 64. General Requirements

The importer must, at theirs expense, remit all imported firearms to DIASP, in order to conduct ballistic tests and for possession certificates to be issued under the name of the importer.

A catalogue of all items to be imported must be attached to all applications in order to import firearms, their accessories, ammunition and cartridges, related materials and non-lethal defensive devices.

Whenever possible, all new firearms entering the country must be factory marked with the letters PTY, followed by the serial number. In cases where this is not impossible, a certificate from the manufacturer must be attached, specifying the reasons for which it is not possible to comply with this requirement. The marking procedure shall be set in the regulation of this Act.
