Solomon Islands Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare has accused Australia of bullying tactics over its opposition to his plan to re-arm Solomons police…
Last week the government bypassed a RAMSI training program by sending 12 Solomons police officers to Taiwan for training in close personal protection.
Solomons officials thought the course would include firearms training but Taiwanese officials last week issued a statement saying that part of the course had been dropped.
Sogavare has since accused Canberra of pressuring Taiwan to remove the firearms element from the course.
