Sur une population estimée de 256,000 en 2012, cela signifie qu'un habitant sur deux possède une arme de chasse. La moyenne augmente automatiquement si on ne compte pas les enfants. En conséquence, si la Nouvelle-Calédonie était un État souverain, elle serait le deuxième pays le plus armé au monde (58.6 armes pour 100 habitants) derrière les États-Unis (94.3%), devançant de justesse la Serbie (58%), et dépassant aisément la France (31.2%), l'Irak (34.2%) et l'Arabie Saoudite (35%)…
